I think this could be a fun loop :P

So i am going to be going into the world of water cooling. For right now i have one GTX 560Ti and i might get another one but eventually i will have an SLI set up that is underwater. So I have done some drawing and came up with this for my layout...



I know it may look really busy but blue means cold water, red means hot water, and the yellow arrows is flow direction. My main thing here is would this set up work? and how should i have the fans oriented? for example should i have the top pair pushing air down then the middle set pushing down as well? this is my challenge... also should i be using these rads the XSPC RX & RS 240s??? if i set it up like this i will be maxed out for space and will have no more... but if i get two RS 240 rads i will be able to have 3 pairs of fans (top, middle, bottom) so i would have a push, push, pull combination if u can picture that... So just help me out here... All answers are welcome and of course as many as possible would be great as well Thanks in advance to everyone who has helped me on this... rep+

You would be far better off putting the RS rad in the top of the case, the RX in the bottom and getting a smaller res. I can tell you now that the RS will fit in the top, but the RX probably wont depending on your mobo.

The reason is that stacking the rads is not very efficient. Basically you heat the air with the first rad so the second can't cool as well, due to the lower air - water delta. Check out the results of Skinnee's 360 rad comparison, the stacked MCR320 did worse than the single MCR320 with low speed fans, and only slightly better with high speed fans:



For the res you could get a bay res, or even one that incorporates the pump, which would save you space and mounting issues, alternatively you can get a Swiftech Micor res and stick it to the back of your HDD rack, between the HDDs and the GPU (it fits with a 5850, you should have no problems).

Edit:

As for fan direction, ideally you would have to have all the rads running as either intake or exhaust. If you mix them up then you are back to the stacked rad concept.

sry to tell you bro but stacking rads isnt gonna work to well, put the rx on the bottom with push pull a 360 rad on top push pull and the res, if you rlyu want one, in the drive bay and the pump under neath it. loop order goes res>pump>bottom rad> 560>cpu>toprad>res

The 690 II will take a 240 in the roof without modding, and there is not enough space to put fans on the bottom with most mobo's as the RAM slots will be obscured. The top fans actually sit in the top part of the case above the rad.

Ya i kinda knew about this but thought that I might be able to get by... So there really is no way that i would be able to pull something off like this then? like could i move a few things around perhaps or is it just a no?

Well you can do it, but you won't get much more performance than if you just used the RX240, unless you are running high speed fans.

Is there any reason why you don't want to put the RS240 in the roof?

I say you use your old setup, just put the pump on the rad. If you insist on installing the res on top though, a single 120mm in the rear instead would be a lot more beneficial. Also be aware that you will need a lot of angled fittings for the kind of turns you are doing, especially 90 degrees for the bottom rad because there will only be a 25mm space (unless you are using thicker fans) between the rads.

Water cooling requires large amounts of planning and research, so take your time and make sure everything fits alright.

Slightly OT: Don't promise rep as "bribe". What you are adding at the end of your posts are kinda border lining it

That's not really how it works; in a matter of minutes after starting your system up, the water will reach equilibrium and will be the ~same temperature in the whole loop.

What you should do is stretch the tubing between your components in the easiest way possible, without regards to what comes after what. That said, it's good to have the pump right after the reservoir for easier filling.
