Cpu 40C

I have stock cpu i5 2500k with aftermarket cooler. After playing intense games my pc says max load was around 41C. That seems too good to actually be legit...

Adjust the core temp based on ambients (use idle) and just proportionally add it on.

Also check with your mobo sensors.

Download RealTemp and post your temperatures. Compare them to the temperatures from whatever software you're currently using. RealTemp is usually pretty accurate!

41C is low, but it's not that low depending on what game you're playing?

Edit: and by stock do you mean running at stock clocks? If so, that temp wouldn't surprise me.

I have bad luck with cpu temps. My 980 reads 11 at idle. Core temp is more accurate.

I usually max core 1 at 45-50c on heavy games at ~24c though so might not me too far off.

Think it's all gulftowns, both of mine idled lower than the ambient temp but loads do look pretty normal.
OP, depending on the load on the cpu & ambient temp 40° might be normal, you'd have to try loading it wioth prime or linx or something to compare some real load temps.

if you're sure the offsets in the temp program are correct...then i can only suggest checking distance to tjmax, as this will tell you for sure where abouts your temps are
