If your board isn't "certified", the "hack" will just disable that certification process in the drivers, so SLI will function.

You could try that with your other 295 too.

If you're itching to upgrade, I'd suggest a new motherboard (990FX) or go to Intel. From there, maybe invest in 3 screens...the more the better. Make sure they match though, so you can utilize Surround or Eyefinity later on. Water isn't a bad way to go either if you're wanting to get your feet wet. And of course...you could upgrade your audio solution as well (my favorite).

Just a few suggestions is all.

Thanks for the suggestions. Originally I was going to do the hack, I made a thread asking about it. Everyone said my board would be horrible to do the hack on and its a waste of time and money to SLI on my board.

I have thought about sound upgrade, but I am happy with my headphones/dell 2.1 setup.

Leaning towards either a new mobo/liquid and try and push my 1100t farther, or go intel/liquid.

Also though about buying 2 more screens to match mine, but my desk is too small for 3 monitors, plus I would have to go ATI (which I don't think I want to do), or SLI some cards, which would need a new mobo...too much $$$ for a broke white boy that buys everything on Craigslist.

I was using a radeon HD 4870x2 which is about equivalent to a GTX 295 and when I upgraded to a single GTX570 I definitely noticed a big difference. About 15fps increase in Crysis on 1920x1080 everything very high 2x AA. Also I was able to crank AA up to at least 8x in various games like Bulletstorm, Just Cause 2 and still get higher fps than the 4870x2 on 2x or no AA.

Anyways you were a bit unlucky that you realized soon after you buy. But you are right, why would you pay $320 for DX11 that you don't play? lol

If you want fresh adventure I say go with liquid whatever other option you choose. But that's just me

P.S.: Your GTX295s will like watercooling also (My SLI GTX275 was watercooled and cards were working like a charm - after full load folding for days - temperatures were ~48C )

Good luck

I had a 4870x2 and went to a 295. I noticed an increase. I noticed no increase in FPS with the 570. That was using FRAPS. So I guess I will just stick with it for now.

Just gotta figure out whether I want to stay AMD, or go Intel. Intel is faster, but seems confusing when overclocking. Alot more settings. Alot DIFFERENT settings.

I came from an unlocked Athlon II at 3.85GHz (quad with L3), to an i5 2500k. The i5 at bone stock walked all OVER my old AMD quad overclocked.

And once you learn the settings, its not all that much different. Up the multiplier (since there is not much BCLK adjustment anymore), up voltage as needed, screw with PLL and VCCIO. That's about it.

They definitely look cool on water BUT, I think my temps are pretty great. Even folding ALL night they never exceed 65. That is sufficient to me. Even my cpu temps are fine for me. Occasionally the fans get louder than I like if I am playing for a long time during the afternoon (Texas heats brings temps in my house up to about 82f.) Otherwise those temps are great too. But I want more. I want to overclock higher, but afraid to put more voltage to it. Took 1.57 to hit 4.3...new mobo might help and push it farther, but I don't know.

I'd probably recommend intel and highend air actually, unless you're sure that you will want to add your Kepler GPU/GPUs into the loop as well. If so then factor in the space for the rads and the cooling requirements for the entire loop so that you only have to do it once, WC is exspensivo.

May do that. I just bought new ram though. Corsair Vengence 1600mhz. 2x4gigs. Maybe I will return it all! LOL

For the most part, it sounds like you've found the limitations of YOUR chip. Every chip will clock differently, and it sounds like you're hitting a wall around 4.2-4.3GHz. A new board likely won't change that too much.

2600k is great, but don't count on 5GHz. Count on 4.5GHz+, and higher framerates in your games. They'll ALL do 4.5GHz, but you should be able to push higher if you have great cooling.

And if you do switch over to Intel, don't be afraid of higher temps. The Sandy Bridge chips are capable of handling 85*C all day. The lower the better obviously, but they do have a higher threshold for temperatures.

Also, make note of the voltage limitations on SB too, its different from AMD.

EDIT:
Keep your Corsair Vengence, that's good RAM. It'll be handy in your potential new build.
