Origin by itself is fine. Getting rid of ingame browser and implementing Battlelog is also fine by itself. But why combine the 2? That means you have to launch Origin to START the game, and then go to browser from there, and start game from Battlelog. ***? I miss the old days of clicking on an icon from your desktop.
There were numerous threads during the alpha about battle log, and most people thought it was temporary because it was alpha. I'm really disappointed to hear this. Sure battlelog is faster than BC2's browser.... then again, BC2 was originally designed with consoles in mind. There's no reason they couldn't make an in-game menu that's optimized.
/rant
That being said, battlelog isn't terrible but I'd strongly prefer an in-game menu and be able to launch the game without origin running in the background.

Then don't play it. I don't care, I'm going to buy it.

1. Correct.
2. Not correct, its very much a PC game that has also been ported to consoles. This is especially true since a number of features and components that are available on PC, are not available on consoles. PC quality was not reduced in quality to match the console version, so I don't see how it could be considered a console game. After all, Battlefield 2 was available on consoles, and you'd be mistaken to call that a console game.

Okay I'm confused on this. They had by all accounts stated that ORIGIN was going to be the "Menu" for this game. I was fine with this, but to require internet browsers to launch games? That was the single largest sources of complaints during the alpha tests, so I really hope they weren't deaf to that.
It's so frustrating trying to get the facts about this game, I mean I'm getting it either way because the gameplay itself is pretty much guaranteed to be mind-blowing, but I really hope they are not implementing the same internet browser configuration as they did for the alpha.

BF3:
-Launch BF3
-Log into Battlelog (if browser is set to save details, this step consists of nothing more than pressing "Enter")
-Server browser
-Play game

If BF3s system is THAT troublesome and game breaking, I fail to see how the earlier systems ever made it past day one of their release

I agree that it feels kind of weird in terms of "immersion" (although immersion only matters to me while I'm playing a game, as opposed to entering one), but at the end of the day, its much more responsive and much quicker to actually get into a game then any of the previous methods used and it works.
Except for BF3 it's actually going to be:
-Launch Origin
-Log into Origin
-Please wait authorizing
-Launch BF3
-Opens web browser which can take 10> seconds on a cold boot and 1-2 seconds on a warm boot along with memory usage based on the browser you're using
-Log into Battlelog
-Loads page (can be about a 1mb download and information is constantly changing due to Battlelog's facebook like style)
-Click Multiplayer
-Server browser
-Launch BF3
-Load level for BF3
-Play game

yeah you're right, not that troublesome because you have to go through 3 applications instead of one. quit being the dice defense force here. this is pretty stupid.

it's not just an online shooter?

seriously grizzleboy, i decided to read through the 8 pages (probably 9 now) and all i see you doing is acting like ea pr. this is not a good creation, this is an annoyance. this is stupid and it's no wonder that EA couldn't get it on Steam because Steam never would've allowed some crap like this.

if this is the "future" of server browsers i'd like to opt out. this is terrible. they announced they'd have a built in server browser and now they're saying nope? unbelievable that dice/ea would do something like this. no wait no it's not, this is something i've come to expect. bf3 may be a solid game but please, this stinks worse than ubi's drm.

I could have noted down every single click of the mouse for the BF2 and BC2 startup processes aswell, but I was assuming that we were having a grown up discussion and not spinning info just to make yourself correct.

I have no idea what is wrong with your rig, but if its taking you anywhere near 10 seconds for your browser to load, I'm quite sure its not Battlelogs fault.

Complaining about a (supposedly) 1mb download for the webpage? Are you on 56k?

"loads page". You dont say? Or are you insinuating that it takes any substantial length of time?

Basically all of what you just typed is opinion, almost none of it is factual. Just like you saying the command rose being the worst game mechanic ever is also thankfully, nothing but a very uncommon opinion.

Worse than ubi drm? If you say so.

Annoyance? For you maybe. Pressing alt-tab is no more laborious for me that pressing escape and clicking the mouse one time, but that's just me.

Not good? If you say so.

Reason why its not on steam? That's a totally unrelated matter.

I have never at any point said that this is the future or any of the rubbish you're trying to pin on me.

I have said however, that it WORKS and IS faster than other methods for getting in and out of games.

It DOES work and it IS faster.

I have also said that I like how it integrates forums/friends lists.

I have also said that I think an in game server browser would be more aesthetically pleasing, but as the core function is the same at the end of the day and does what it should and MORE than a simple in game server browser does, I don't really mind.
