How to check faulty PSU?

Thread Starter
Hi,
my PC gave up life yesterday and now I got the honor to find out why.

Basically the problem is, I can't switch it on anymore. So my first thought was faulty PSU. Luckily I still got my old PSU and I don't want to replace the whole PSU because it's time consuming work..

Can I just try it by plugging in the 20+4 pin and the cpu-4pin to run the PC @ minimum power?

thanks

If you want to test your PSu unplugg every thing that is plugged into it (HDD, CD, GPU, CPU, Mobo)

Then on the 24 Pin connector located the green wire. Stick a paper clip in the green slot and a ground slot (black wires) [ You wont get electrocuted. When the PSU senses that the green wire is grounded it turns on. This system runs on very low voltage. you wont even feel it]

When you do this if the PSU turns on that the problem isnt your PSU

If your PSU dosnt turn on then you found your problem..

Just beware often dieing PSU take other PC parts with them..
