Please help with my loop order (Pictures Inside)

post #1 of 11
Thread Starter

Folks, I've been cracking my head for god knows how long trying to decide on the best loop order for my setup. There are 2 GPUS at the moment but a third will be added in the middle later on. All fans are exhaust (blow out of casing).

Loop A

Res -> Pump -> Rad240 -> GPU1 -> GPU2 -> GPU3 -> CPU -> Rad 120 -> Rad 360

With this loop, perhaps I can get a little shorter distance but the fittings will be a little more expensive. My main concern is that 3 GPUs may cook up the water temp a little too much before reaching the CPU. I'm guessing CPU will get a delta +extra 3-4C compared to the fresh water being fed into the GPUs.

Loop B

Res -> Pump -> Rad240 -> GPU1 -> GPU2 -> GPU3 -> Rad 120 -> CPU -> Rad 360

With this loop, I can choose to use the same fittings, or I can go all straight compression which will save a little money. Not sure how much temperature drop I can get feeding the GPUs to the 120 Rad before going to the CPU but I got a feeling the CPU may see 1 degree less deta compared to Loop A.

I would actually like to reverse the loop but because of the "Res before Pump" law, I haven't been able to figure out how I could do it without putting the pump in the 5.25" bay with another smaller res, or running a long tube from the pump all the way back to the top 360rad.

Loop C

Seems like your only real choice is the last one with the 120 res in between. I would not want to go 3 gpus directly into the cpu, no thanks. Can you switch the 360 rad so the barbs are on the other side?
res>pump>240>gpus>360>cpu>120>res...
Won't be super pretty but this is the order I would want to go. GL

What kind of pump do you have?

Id go with loop B. In the end I don't think it really matters much.

I can't switch the 360 around because the 120 is obstructing the in/out. I can switch the 360 around and place the 120 in the 5.25" bay.

Ahh I see it now. Do that then if it's not too much trouble. That would actually look pretty good too.

But would having the rad inside of the casing circulating internal air do any good at all?

Well if you have it in push pull in the bays blowing towards the back and put a 120 in the back it would probably work. It would be better if you put some mesh in the front of the drive bays.

I took my 120 rad out of the loop and just left a 360 in the top and a 240 in the bottom.
mine goes:
res & pump > 240 rad (bottom) > gpu's > 360 rad > cpu > res & pump (danger den Monsoon)

temps for the loop are around 64 when folding, 37 when idle and 55 while gaming.

Another possible loop

Loop C (7ft tubing vs 4-5ft tubing w/ Loop A/B)

This will be a lot cheaper because I won't be needing as many angled/dual/triple rotaries. However, I would need about 7ft of tubing vs only about 4-5ft of tubing if I went with loop A/B.

Loop order goes like

Res -> Pump -> 240 -> 360 -> CPU -> 120 -> GPU

I could also use a T-block right before the pump's inlet to create a drain pipe, Or I could just pull off the tube to drain the water.
