Proxima DP6870: worth new bulb?

Thread Starter
I was given this projector from a friend who used it at work for meetings, and the only thing wrong with it is the bulb. I checked, and sure enough the bulb is blasted, and a new one can be found for $110 online.

I know this was made in the early 2000's but I was still thinking of using it as a home theater projector. After looking at the specs, 1080i, 720p, 575i, I would think it would serve as a home theater projector well.

Any thoughts or is there something I missed which could lead to a problem if I was going to use it for this purpose??

Personally i prefer big monitors, but if you're watchin films on it and stuff i don't see a reason why not. I'm not sure $110 is expensive for a bulb, but i guess it's cheaper than buying a new projector / massive flatscreen.

Well the way I see it is that the 110 bucks for a bulb would outweigh the price of a large flatscreen for my living room

Thanks for your input.

I'd say go for it then, 720p isn't bad at all, especially for something you aren't sat right next to
