i3 gaming rig

Thread Starter
need to build a new gaming rig, last one was sold to a friend.
i would like to keep it compact but powerful.
and i need to keep it under $700. (will upgrade in the near future)

here are the parts i've chosen so far:

CASE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811146065

POWER SUPPLY
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341018

MOTHERBOARD
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138296

PROCESSOR
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115078

MEMORY
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231425

HARD DRIVE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136795

now as for graphics, would it be worth it/is it possible to crossfire/SLI two lower-end GPU's on this motherboard?
or should i just go for one higher end card?

I would choose i3 540. You can overclock it pretty well. You cant overclock i3 2100, can you?

no, i believe the i3-2100 is locked.

on the other hand, i've never overclocked before. would i see a significant increase in performance on most games if i were to overclock?

You can, just not much. The i3-2100 is also more powerful than the i3-540.

I have a mini ITX system I'm building for someone else, here's the specs

I have the EE 460 because airflow is essential for mITX, and having hot air dumped into it isn't the best idea. You will need to add an optical drive to this, and get the case from Amazon, since it does not have a shipping cost.
