That board doesn't support Xfire or SLI because it has 1 PCIe. That limits you in the future

Thread Starter
got the setup i wanted for $685 including shipping and CA tax.

NZXT Vulcan case
OCZ 500w modular power supply
BIOSTAR TH67+ LGA 1155 Intel H67 motherboard
Intel core i3-2100 CPU
4g G.Skill RipjawsX ddr3 1333
XFX Radeon HD6870
Seagate Barracuda 500gb sata 6gb/s
Lite-On SATA DVD ROM

i read that h67 boards will be compatible with the new ivybridge chips so i think i'm safe there for upgrading the CPU.

and as for the hard drives....would it be worth it to get a ssd for a boot drive and another ssd for my games, and keep the seagate for general storage?

With that budget I really don't know why you couldn't get the i5-2500k

H67 limits you to use DDR3 1333 only ... p67 allow you to use 1600. In everyday use anything over 1600 is not really noticeable, but from 1333 to 1600 there is a bigger jump in performance. Also the board you using isn't really an OC board either.

Did you see the post I had earlier? I had it all built under $700 after rebates and before shipping. It might been like $50 over your budget, but the i5-2500k is a league on its own. And the i3 is not comparison to the i5-2500k at all. Its totally worth the extra $50 for the better p67 and i5-2500k. Plus I included a 8gb of ram in the build too.

You won't need two SSD. Just get one for boot drive.

and one more thing... ivy bridge will benefit more from 1600 ram than 1333 ram...and a better chip set in p67.

Its "compatible" but its not 'ideal'... if you have a chance now to make it ideal..and the budget for it... why not?
