Blah. So I guess it takes us back to the faulty router problem. Which still makes sense to me since they originally had me setup with a basic modem before I pointed out to them that I paid for more.

The original modem didn't have any problems as far as we could see, but this thing has. I guess I'll have to call and convince them to give me a new one...

Thanks again all of you for all your help! If I end up getting a new one and the problem persists, I'll definitely be back on here.

Personally, if it were me, I'd ask them for a basic modem, then set up a good router behind it. I've always had better luck keeping the modem and router separate.

Hopefully, your problem will be resolved with a new modem, but if not, we'll be here to help keep you confused...

You may try looking into if your router and your modem are both running DHCP and they are clashing. Sounds like that to me, if the modem works straight into the computer but not when you add the router into it.

I think he has a modem/router combo.

It doesn't look like it uses batteries. This is a link to the model I believe I have:
Modem/Router Model
i am not talking about the Modem/Router, but I am talking about if they installed a box outside of the house or in the garage that has a battery and a place to plug it in so that in case your power goes out the internet doesn't go out. I think TWC and Verizon both use that but i am not sure.

I have no idea. I'm living in an apartment, and I know they said they needed to do something outside first before they came in, but I have no idea where they went to do the thing they did outside. Right now my internet is working OK. It's crashing less, but it seems to need at least a good 20 or so minutes for the modem/router to warm up before the internet starts working.
