Trying hard to pick a card : Need help pls! - Page 2

I'd handle 2 options;

1. Reference HD6950 2GB and unlock it's shaders.
2. GTX560 Ti OC

Sure they will be overkill, but looking towards games like Battlefield 3, even at that resolutions, I'd go for at least one if those.

at that resolution? a HD 5770 would run most of the game at that res with 60/50+ FPS anything else might be overkill

Trust me, NO. I had an HD5850 at that resolution and it had drops below 60 fps sometimes in BFBC2.

Can you tell me how quiet these cards are with a full load?

Thanks

Im using a GTX 460 SE on a 1440x900 res. screen and have absolutely no stutter and always am on 60fps at max setting's with BFBC2.

So I dont see how buying a 6950, or 560Ti is useful. Just go for something like a GTX 460 1gb/GTX 465 or Radeon HD 6850. IMO its a waste of money to do so unless you upgrade your monitor in the future or want to stay future proof on that res. monitor for 4 years.

Overkill is not a word in overclock.net But whatss the limi on cash get the best bang for buck, I love my 580 @ 1920-1080 @ 90-120 fps in dx 11 . Depends on ammount of cash @ hand, I like geforce card more then ati. 560ti or 6950.

Hmm... Seems like something else was wrong, a 5850 shouldn't have had much trouble. tongue.gif

Hey mate, I would recommend you go with this card. A 2GB 6950 for £188 and you also get Dirt 3. The card runs very cool and very quiet and considering the prices of GTX 560 Ti's, this is much better for the money.

However your resolution shouldn't be any trouble for most cards and you should think about upgrading your monitor next.. and be sure to overclock your CPU. wink.gif

There is no way you will be maxing Battlefield 3 with your GTX460. wink.gif

Well lets just say this if you plan on in the future to upgrade you monitor to a higher resolution in the future than yes get what they says above. The Msi twin frozr cooler is almost silent. It's like having 2 medium speed fan in the case.
