HD 6870 vs. GTX 560

Thread Starter
Hey OCN,

I recently got the HIS Radeon HD 6870 but AFTER buying the card, a lot of people told me that the GTX 560 is a better card, so I did some Googling and it seems like everyone thinks so, so my question is should I return my card and get a GTX 560 from here? If so, which one should I get?

Thanks!

P.S. Will I need to reinstall my Windows if I go from an ATI card to an Nvidia?

No...wrong.

The only people who complain about drivers either have a PBKAC, or a faulty card.

Enough about AMD driver issues because that's just not true.

Yeah, I didn't have any driver issues up until my 6870, it randomly crashed in Starcraft on 11.7. I downgraded to 11.1 and no crashes yet.

The 560 Ti is better, but not by much. Maybe 5 frames per game at most... you'll pay $30 more for one :/

wrong, the 6870 when overclocked to 1GHz it's better than the 560 ti

proof: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/03/09/msi_r6870_hawk_video_card_review/8

in max fps the 6870 wins in avg and min fps the 560 ti wins

I think I'm going to stick with my HD 6870 as it comes overclocked @920/1120 and more importantly, the IceQ X cooling system is really cool and quiet, I don't know about the GTX 560 Ti. Lastly, there is about a $30 price difference for a little or no increase in performance.

The GTX 560 Ti is significantly faster than the HD 6870 (reference vs reference), especially after overclocking them both. The price should reflect this.

The HD 6870 is comparable to the GTX 560 non-TI. The GTX 560 non-Ti is a little better because it overclocks better.
