A little frustrated

Thread Starter
So not sure where the issue is comming from however everyone I talk to thinks it is my GPU's overheating.

Sitting idle at this webpage speedfan says that my GPU's are running at 64 and 65 C.

Basically what is happening is I will be playing a game . WoW or COD4. And the sound rom speakers will either loop or go "ehhhhhhh" and my comp screens will go blank. I have to hard restart my comp . also manually unplug the PSU for a few seconds before my mobo will give me the *beep of life.

Rig as follows.
Mobo-Asus M3N72D
CPU-AMD Phenom II X4 940 3.00 GHz
8.00 GB OCZ... DDR2 i believe
Dual SLi GTS.250 (brand BFG.. out of business)
1200W thermaltake (i got it for the long haul... it was on sale)
all neatly encased into a HAF932... not that it matters but i painted a nice greatful dead stealy on the side of it

Thankyou for any insight you can give me

* note * I have tried to get RivaTuner but not sure which one to click. i keep getting randumb popups.

Download MSI afterburner and check the temps/clocks while running a game. Open up your case while running and make sure the fans on the CPU's are running. Are your cards seated too closely together? Is it a hot ambient temperature where you're at (no air conditioning, etc.)? Also, when was the last time you dusted out your PC? If it's been a while, that combined with high ambient temperatures could definitely lead your GPU to be overheating. To reiterate, check the following:

1. Download MSI afterburner - check temps/clocks make sure everything seems right.

2. Check to see if fans are physically rotating.

3. How close are your cards?

4. Ambient temp?

5. Clean your PC out (air duster, wipe, etc.)
