Double Thread since I don't know if it belongs in the laptop area of here, sorry if it cause any troubles!

Hello guys, heres my problem, I recently got my hand on this laptop(Alienware mx11 R2) and I love it but I have a few problems about the ram.

First; when Im browsing internet and such I use about 2gig wich is alot imo.
during games it gets worse.

I have 4gig installed but only 3.8usable even if it an 64bit operating system.

Now, would adding 2x4gig could give me some breathing room?

Also in the manual it says that it support 1066/1333 operating at 800mhz. Does that mean that even if I have for exemple 2333 ram it would operate at 800?

The speca of the computer are the following
I7 640UM
2X2 GIG 1066
Gt 335m 1gig
250gig @ 7200rpm.

Now since it was only 450$ it was a good deal imo for school and stuff.

I was thinking about buying that ram http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820231342

Thanks in advance!

Is your card dedicated? If do cant u disable it from using system memory. Also my system is ~ 8x faster then ur laptop and i never used over 4GB.

The thing about getting 8Gb's is that if he is getting to 4Gb's usage, or more, then his system will slow down if it's forced into using a page file. This is why I agreed that he get 8Gb's, but no point in getting memory thats faster than he can actually use (anything over 1333MHz).
Plus the fact that it's a cheap upgrade, it can't hurt anything, and very well may help.

Just to update you since you helped me, I followed your instructions and bought a set of 2x4 @ 1333 from g.skill insted of mushkin (Only because I used more g.skill memory then mushkin one and I wanted more feedbacks on the product)

Thanks again Inteller!
