Overclocking a 990x - Page 4

Nice, I'll definitely consider the socket 2011 version of the clevo then for some of our peeps next year. Out of interest what do you use it for? If business I'd suggest more stability tests than just prime, linx/ibt will stress your IMC more (I've found that 4096MB setting is the hardest for my 990x) and beyond that the single hardest thing for stability that I've found for my 990x is folding big-big-adv under linux, preferably while having it run a vm or two. That can easily take off 100-200MHz from a "stable under IBT" scenario. All depends how picky you are about stability.

I use it to pick up girls? Hahaha. Kidding. I do a lot of video/sound editing along with running a couple graphics intense games plus folding too. I do some rendering as well which is a lot easier with the HT the 990x provides.

The cooling is solid and I doubt I'll have any issues with overheating under load. So stability is probably my only issue. I didn't really do an aggressive OC and don't plan on it so I don't think a 4.2GHz OC will have any issue. Unless you think otherwise.

Get some pictures of that beast. A guy on my other forum has a 980x and 480s in SLI. I want to see how big it is. Also, 580m is bottlenecking you bad. 560s pretty much.

Well it's not like I can put in different graphics cards. Only Mobile GPUs.

I know that, just saying that 560s are bottlenecking you. Take a picture, wanna see that beast of a thing.

Well apparently the GPUs are user upgradable. Idk what that means though. Pics will come. Just gotta figure out how to put them up.
