Not sure what you mean. Are you going with VGA to monitor now? Works great IMO.

I have a 40" vizio that accepts a VGA connection, just wondering if picture and response time will be better on VGA instead of the HD component cables, seeing as HDMI is not an option at this point.

Well as I said the input lag is sometimes something that can't be altered. It's definitely possible switching to VGA will help, but honestly I really can't be certain. If you can provide me with the model number of the TV I could search around and see what other people are experiencing/doing to help the input lag.

As for picture quality, it might be better. You can use higher resolutions with VGA vs the HD AV cables. Personally I use 1080p, vs the 720p HD AV cables provide. Most games are just upscaled 720p though, but that added resolution does help to see more. I'm not sure how VGA will look on a 40" but on my monitor it looks just fine, if not better than HD AV cables. I would think this is more-so dependent on your monitor/TV.

Similar model that should tell you what you need to know.

Basically you need to figure out which kinds of filters the screen is being run through to cause the lag. Some TVs also have 'gaming' settings or 'basic' which basically just means most filters are turned off to reduce input lag. Just explore the settings menu and you should find something to appease the lag.

well I figured out what was wrong, I was using an Older power brick on my 360 (I think from the first gen) and I guess it wasn't putting out enough juice to run the HDMI because the power brick was made for a console that didn't have an HDMI port....
