Another batch question

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
I'm waiting for my new mobo to arrive, so naturally im looking around at what different batch numbers are doing.

I RMA'd a L 2500k chip and got a 3 2500k chip from newegg.

I understand the first digit is location, second is year, and 3/4 is week.

For 2500k's, what does the letter and 3 digit number mean?

I see a lot of Axxx and Bxxx chips, but I received a C chip (3104C360 to be exact). Is A > B > C? I've tried searching around and haven't found an answer.

Thanks in advance.

Example: L707A723 ---

1st letter or digit = plant code: (Malaysia)
0 = San Jose, Costa Rica
1 = Cavite, Philippines
3 = Costa Rica
6 = Chandler, Arizona
7 = Philippines
8 = Leixlip, Ireland
9 = Penang, Malaysia
L = Malaysia
Q = Malaysia
R = Manila, Philippines
Y = Leixlip, Ireland

2nd digit = Year of production: (2007)

3rd & 4th digits = week: (7th week )

5th - 8th digits= lot number: (723)

10th - 13th digits = serialization code (---)

Could be a good chip, close to mine, 3104C368, 59x multi chip.
Hard to go by batches though, even chips in the same batch may overclock differently.
