Weird lag, consistent stuttering

Thread Starter
My games freeze every 45 seconds or so, as little programs running in the background as I can manage. It just started happening tonight. Nothing was changed. Two nights ago I updated the audio driver for my Asus Xonar DS but it played fine that night and last night.

Any idea what is causing this? Happens Black Ops and COD4(only games I play)

Those stuttering every 45 seconds or so obviously are reflecting those 'regular' dips as seen in the GPU usage graph.

As the only 'major' change within the past 2 days is the updating of the Xonar driver, perhaps the most logical test is to disable that sound card in the Device Manager and see if the dip/stutter goes away.

If it does, then this greatly narrow down the cause and will be easier to fix.

Thread solved before it even started

Black Ops is a horrifically(is that even a word?) plain out awful port. Couldn't say much about COD4 tho, haven't played that in years.

I restarted and ran chkdsk for the hell of it and there wasn't any more lag. I assume the restart had something to do with it.
