Urgent - need mobo for i5 2400 !

Thread Starter
I'm in need of a good motherboard suggestion for my Intel build. CPU is the sandy bridge i5 2400. Unable to decide on a good chipset & a mobo.

Need to decide between H67 & P67. Z68 -> if you say its highly recommended for my requirement..

The requirement: causal gaming + ability to play some recent games @ decent resolution if not maxed out settings.

1. I dont plan to OC the CPU. So, I guess the P67 is not needed.

2. I need to decide between going with the onboard IGP on i5 2400 or a discrete graphics card. If the IGP can handle games decently, then the mobo that I choose need to be a good solid one to withstand a powerful GPU in future.

Pls. suggest ! (Budget not a problem if the boards suits my requirement.)

That's a very poor idea, in my opinion.

Overclocking is a nearly free privilege that you shouldn't pass up.

You get (much) more value for your money, performance per dollar-wise, and the speed.. on Sandy Bridge is just amazing.

It's also super-easy to OC these new CPUs. I've seen beginners reach 4.5Ghz stable without even trying.

So, I'd recommend you buy the i5-2500k.

As for the motherboard, practically any motherboard on the market will satisfy your needs.

Look in my sig for a complete list of all P67 & Z68 motherboards.

Lastly, I'd definitely get a graphics card. The IGP on the i5/i7s is very weak.

If you haven't ordered yet, save some money by buying an H67 motherboard and get a 6870, if you can.

That's a good choice.

I think you mean the i5-2500k. It's well worth it.

Also, an HD 6950 would be a better value IMHO.

just a small correction.. the cpu is the i5 2500k and not i5 2400 !

@ tasospaok123 -> good suggestion but since i've been convinced that OC'ing a free "risk-free" privilege with the intel i5's.. a h67 cannot be used i guess..

Also, your vote between the Asus P8P67 and MSI Z68A-GD55 (B3) ?

n the 6950 is bit above the expense I can make
