That load was under battlefield bad company 2. $20 says I won't even hit 50c during p95. You can trash the H80 all you want, but bc2 is a CPU-heavy game. My cores are usually over 75% most of the time during game play. I don't see why p95 would produce a different result. Prime95 isn't a stress test, it's a stability test.

Yes p95 is a stability and it tests stability by stressing the CPU. Se how that works. When you run p95 you get 100% load on all cores all the time and this generates a lot more heat then gaming. You can see similar heat figures in the real world apps like 3D rendering and video conversion software.

Prime95 is a poor temp test in a "gaming" rig IMO. Some game's(like BF:BC2) hang out at around 75% usage on all 4 core's, and hit 100% while loading inbetween online match's(with my CPU). That would keep temps lower than Prime95, but add in a GPU that is screaming at over 50c and more heat build's up in the case. I suspect this is why BF2 gets my temps warmer than prime.

Well everyone has different preferences but I like to run prime95 and furmark at the same time to check that everything stays cool enough no matter what. I also like to have some head room so that my system can run even on hot summer days.

But this is just one mans opinion. As the saying goes whatever floats your boat.

+1, on the whole post. I like to run both a CPU stress test and GPU stress test to check peak temps on both at the same time

yeah the h100 (wich is supposed to perform a bit a better than the h80) is a few degrees better than the Archon here, but it's also WAY louder. At comparable noise levels the Archon is in front by a large margin...
it's just one review of course, but xbitlabs is certainly one of the better websites when it comes to Heatsink Testing...

There are plenty of other reviews to support the H100 beats out Silver Arrow and D-14 aswell, but makes alot more noise while doing it.

Thus far nothing but FullWaterLoop's can compair to the SilverArrow or D-14 when noise is a factor.

Basically. But even when noise isnt a factor at all, you could easily put some high rpm fans on the Silver Arrow, too

It's amazing at how bothered some people are from fan noise. Do you guys wear ear muffs out in public?

I think I was a tad missleading I keep pretty current on Cooler reviews. So I would watch/read a review by someone, then go back and see what the same test machine pulled on the silver arrow or d-14. In everyone the H100 cooled better by a bit, but this was with the H100 set at full power. Once the fans where turned down some the margin was nill.

Edit: here are some links.
Here
And a video to prove the nosie level of H100 vs the silver arrow.

Here is the tech specs for the H100 vs the Silver arrow. look at the DBA rating on them
H100
Silver arrow
H100 is at almost twice the DBA rating.
