Didn't notice that , sorry about that chinesethunda. I think that means I should go to bed.

There is only one way to find out.

That's exactly what I was thinking. This obviously only works if the CPU heatsink obstructs airflow between the two top fans, but in that caseI could see it work. This sort of setup just gets a lot of bad publicity.

Trick is it's not my case. I have a top mounted PSU in my case, so I never really thought of this. So when a friend asked for some case advice and I came up with this, I had the voices of a thousad overclock.net users going "That's illegal!" in the back of my head.

If there is only going to intake fans and no exhaust fans, isnt it possible the air will just blow randomly throughout the case rather than all the air being sucked to a few central locations? I wont deny positive is less dusty, but really, clean your pc out once a year and you'll be golden.

I agree with thunda, I dont use any exhaust fans...on the top pannel its silly to use and exhaust right next to an intake like that, your intake fan will pull hot air from the exhaust in.. no good

I use ALL intake fans, and removed my rear exhaust fan, this has given me the best temps so far.

maybe your cooler is acting as an exhaust fan blowing straight out to the perforated top of your case.

that is kinda the point, the point is to cut out the rear grill, and let the back back of the cooler be the exhaust fan

OP's point is shown in the figure attached. it is certainly doable but in the case of KhoacticKomputing an adapter is needed to position the cooler in the right direction.

the problem i see here is after gaming for a few hours, for example, the exhausted air (top fan) may be high enough that even when mixed with outside air (ambient) it will be sucked in by the intake fan right beside it making the setup inefficient. but without actual data it is just speculating.

in my case, i do not have enough room for fans at the top even the slim ones would not fit. i have a push/pull config.
