monitor around 1k for bf3 (:

post #1 of 12

Okay so I plan on buying a new monitor around thanksgiving so I have time if something new is coming out. Obviously ill be using this monitor for mostly gaming, specifically BF3. However I'm starting to think all this talk of input lag and response time is really over hyped. Were talking about milliseconds here... anywho I'm pretty sure I want a 27" 1440p 16:9 monitor due to it becoming the most mainstream format and slightly greater pixel density. It just seems over all better for gaming. Just before obnoxiously large where I'd have to actually turn my head to play. I was looking hard at the dell u2711 but if I get it I'd remove the AG layer, however they seem to have a lot of problems so I'm not I'm comfortable voiding the warranty. The samsung sa850 looks promising with its pls, but I hear it has more bleed through and less contrast then the dell. Seriously if somebody could enlighten me that'd be great, thank you!

I love the Dell's, and I wouldn't risk trying to remove the AG layer because;

a) Void's your warranty
b) Can leave lots of glue residue on the screen, which is not removable from then on.

hazro hz27wc
And the apple cinema 27"

are also viable choices. Both are glossy 27" 2560x1440 monitors with an IPS panel and lower input lag than the u2711 for example.

Is the Apple any good for gaming though? I've heard it has more input lag etc. Then the dells. I'm no Apple fan... but if they actually do make a good product for the price I could bite the bullet, I so like gloss screens better. I'll go check out the hazro now. Also is there anything worth waiting for in the next 4 monthes?

The apple 27" IIRC has less input lag than the u2711, not sure how much though

The apple 30" one has horrible input lag.

There is nothing worth waiting for AFAIK. Aside from maybe that new samsung PLS (IPS competitor/copy) screen with 2560x1440 res

The samsung doesn't seem to even be as good as the u2711 for picture quality going by the early reviews. I've stumbled across NEC. Are their monitors good for cos gaming? Anyone have experience with them? If i could stretch my budget for a refurbed 3090wqxi would it be worth it? or would their 27" version suffice?

those two samsungs are indeed nice but im also waiting to here about IL, and they are only 1080p cept for the sa850. im really looking more into hazro now but i cant find too much on them. anyone have more info about how they are for gaming?

okay did my research on hazro monitors lol, the wc is actually quite good for gaming but there is no scaler built in, does that mean i wont be able to use my xbox 360 with it? any way i could adapt it?

The hazro WC is good for gaming due to low input lag yes. Since it's missing a scaler, I don't think it could scale xbox 360. Need confirmation on this one though

The WA version of the same monitor has a scaler and an OSD, but a bit more input lag. Still glossy though
