Overclock just not working

Thread Starter
Hello,

I have been lurking around this forum and others. Been trying to overclock my new systems for a week now, but cannot get it stable.

I followed the Clunk guide step by step. But it still freezes/resets/bsod on me everytime I run prime or play games.

I am at the early first stage (4000mhz) overclock. Already having issues :/

According to the guide I must pump up the Vcore if this happens, I do that, but according to CPUZ, its just giving out 1.25, even after I just put it up to 1.3...

Im not too shure what is left for me to do..

Any hel would be appreciated.

John

I used this guide to get my 2600k to 4.8GHz. I had been forgetting to set the VRM to 350. Also, ASUS came out with the 1850 BIOS, that might help too, seeing how it offers stability improvements.

Happy OC'ing!

Thanks for the link, after reviewing a few things, I noticed it only gets stable when I clock the memory to 1600mhz, it stays stable at 1333mhz, but I paid for that 1600mhz hyper x. Why can I not use it fully?

Thanks
John

Your using the FSB to overclock it? if so, your also overclocking your CPU/NB & RAM which would explain why its not stable at the default setting. Just use the cpu multi until you get the hang of it.

Sorry for being such newb, but what does FSB stand for? And i made a mistake in my last post, the machine is stable at 1333mhz, but i purchased 1600mhz, but it crashes un 2 minutes when i clock it to that speed. I got the ram timing from kingstons website

You should also load "XMP Profile 1" for the RAM profiles - that will load the correct settings for your memory and tend to be the best way in configuring your RAM to the advertised speeds and timings.

For the CPU overclocking, you'll mainly only want to touch the multiplier. Leave the BLCK alone (thats the 100.xx figure below it). At 4.0ghz, it is safe to leave most of the other voltages on auto as well, and you shouldn't need anymore than 1.2v on the CPU vcore anyway since that's a very soft OC.
