2600k Overclock Feedback

Thread Starter
Hi, I finally managed to get my 2600k stable with offset voltage as I wanted to.
here is some info:

CPU: Intel 2600k @ 4.5Ghz
Mobo: ASUS P8P67 Pro
RAM: 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600
Cooler: Corsair H80 with stock fans (Pull-Push)
Case: NZXT Phantom

My results after 13 hours of Prime95 blend:

@ 4.5Ghz

Idle temp: ~30 degrees

FULL LOAD

Vcore: 1.3V (peaked at 1.31 a few times)

Max Temp: 69 degrees

this is with a Corsair H80 with fans on medium speed (balanced)

so what do you guys think? if you want to know my settings in bios let me know
krz.

pretty good temps, and pretty decent volts for that clock.

Yep, looks good. You can also turn off HT (HyperThreading) if you don't do any CPU intensive tasks like video encoding, rendering and that kind of stuff - it might shred off a few degrees.

If you haven't worked on cable management much, you might also want to clean things up a bit to improve airflow as well smile.gif

No need to turn HT off...if you do...i mean why not go with 2500k. Leave it on lol..

i think i did a pretty good job with my cable management as i don't have any cables wandering around...also i'd prefer to leave ht on as i use photoshop once in a while smile.gif

so my temps are fine considering my voltage and that my cooler is on half its power?

if i put it on silent mode i would probably get a max of 71-72 on my hottest core

yeah looks good krz, post your bios settings, might help others looking and im interestedt to see what you used also.

How does offset voltage work?

Thread Starter
Alright so the system info is in my sig.

--- 2600k @ 4.5GHz with Offset vcore of 1.31 ---

BIOS Settings:

Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual
BCLK/PEG: By All Cores
By All Cores (Can Adjust in OS): 45
Internal PLL Overvoltage: Disabled (so i can use sleep mode)
Memory Frequency: DDR3-1600MHz
EPU Power Saving Mode: Enabled
EPU Setting: Auto

Load Line Calibration: Regular
VRM Frequency: Manual
VRM Fixed Frequency Mode: 350
Phase Control: Standard
Duty Control: T. Probe
CPU Current Capability: 100%

CPU Voltage: Offset Mode
Offset Mode Sign: +
CPU Offset Voltage: 0.035 (be careful with the 0.0xx)
DRAM Voltage: 1.5 (can easily find on your ram sticks)
VCCSA Voltage: 0.85 (heard that if lower a bit might not affect stability and might improve temps)
VCCIO Voltage: Auto
CPU PLL Voltage: 1.71250 (heard that if lower might not affect stability and might improve temps.also heard that might help getting stable with a lower vcore)
PCH Voltage: 0.9 (heard that if lower a bit might not affect stability and might improve temps)
CPU Spread Spectrum: Auto

CPU Power Management:
SpeedStep: Enabled
Turbo Mode: Enabled
Everything else on Auto

CPU C1E: Enabled
CPU C3 Report: Enabled
CPU C6 Report: Enabled

basically these are the only settings that satisfied me. I get 1.6ghz at idle with ~1.00 vcore and 4.5ghz at load with ~1.3 vcore.

also i'd like to add that when i play games like crysis/crysis 2 my cpu frequency jumps to 4.5ghz with about 1.25 vcore which i found kinda cool

Once again my cooler is a Corsair H80 with stock fans on pull-push configuration set at the back of my nzxt phantom case as exhaust (pushing air out of the case).

Temps after 13hours of Prime95 blend:

All Cores Average: 65
Hottest Core Peak: 69

if you need any other piece of information or have any feedback please share smile.gif

thanks
krz.

ok so im back with a question...i've read everywhere that if you use offset voltage c3 and c6 states should be off? why is that? and also does that only apply if you are not stable or it doesn't matter? can anyone explain why these 3 settings seem to interfere?

thanks smile.gif
