Anyone have a 460 2win? - Page 2

It does have a gangster looking cooler on it though.

Its a good card in terms of performance but the price is bad. If you can, go with 2 single GTX 460 1GBs. Also if your card was artifacting and such an hour after use, then it is bad.

Returning it tomorrow and thinking about ordering the 460 2WIN edition. I know buying re-certified is good and all, but I'd much rather have something with a warranty behind it. Unless you can show me a pair under 300 bucks.
The drivers crash because:

A) your card is faulty in one way or another and you wont service it.

B) You wont do a proper workaround within the drivers to:

1) Verify a faulty card.

2) fix the issue causing the crash.

Why service a card that's busted this quickly?

I'm not servicing drivers, they should work from the get-go, period. I've never had to do this much tweaking with my old nvidia cards. I thought going crossfire was the way to go but FFS it's just not worth it if it means I have little to no real control like I do with N-control panel.

@Razi3l

Not really, check it out-

So unless you know of a place where I can get cheaper cards this 2win is looking mighty fine.

Its ok, you can be lazy if you want. The problems generally spawn from AMD trying to save you a butt-ton of money on your electricity bill with insanely low idle clocks. If you really don't want to put forth the tiny bit of effort to make them worth the money that is your prerogative.

OT with your questions. 460's are indeed very well worth the money.

Only way the card would have been worth it is if you could have quad sli

Lol they still cost that much on Newegg? I bought my 768MB a year ago for $160. :\\

You could get a used pair of 1GB for $240 and probably a pair of 768MB for under $200.

I would do the same, the 460 2win beats a standard clocked 580 for 80$ less but it has no more room to grow, since GF104 is dual GPU only.

I don't feel like searching, but there are a few recent threads addressing power consumption/cost for these new high end PC's. It came out to something like, 1.17 a month to run an overclocked to the max x58 SLI platform, and like, 1.01 to run it stock with only 1 card. These, of course, aren't exact numbers, but it WAS ridiculously low like that. You are, in no way, saving a butt-ton of money with an AMD card over nVidia cards. Maybe if you have a folding farm with 10-15 GPU's you would notice a difference in your power bill, but it would take that much of an extreme.

With so many years of swapping between ATI and Nvidia, I have never had such ease of use than with Nvidia. ATI has always been a pain in the butt to get cards to work as they should. It doesnt matter if someone is trying to save me 6 cents off my power bill if the damn things cant run stock with stock drivers and no tweaking. Im sorry but I totally agree with OP about ATI's crummy drivers.

OT: I love my 460, and if you can get a 2win for less than 300, I would say go for it. I am even looking at a 2win or possibly a 560 combo if its ever made.
