Need skyrim build, 2k budget - Page 2

One would think that a 580 would be capable of maxing it out... But before it's released, who knows... You can always pick up one, and see how it feels when skyrim is released...

Worst case, you pick up another... Best case, if the game runs fine on high settings, you saved a grip of money.

Yeah, I just looked up the system reqs, bethesda says a minimum of a 9800gt? I think one 580 would do the trick.

That is a good point. If you go with the Single Card option I posted from the first page, or something similar... You have a grip of money left over from your 2k to get a good monitor...

Like the Dell U2412M.

Heh, yeah, but he wants to use his 60" tv for a monitor, he's going to set it up in the living room.

I say grab a AMD 6990 or GTX 590. There will be all kinds of mods that will be releasing with Skyrim and I'm pretty darn sure that they'll be improving on the graphics even more, thus a GTX 580 or 6970 might not cut it down the road.

I would also have to second getting a bigger monitor with higher resolution than his TV is. The game would look soo much better.

Hmm...true. I will chat with him about that. If that;s the case, then we need a shave a bit off what I gave been putting together.

A 580 should for sure max that game. I heard it was just an XBOX port... If anyone has any news that would prove me wrong I would be happy to hear it! Personally, I was pretty bummed when I heard that. It'll still look great but a 580 should max it for sure.

Also, make sure you get a mobo that has a slot of space if you are going to go with the 212+ and dominator RAM. If I am correct, that Corsair has pretty tall RAM sticks and might not fit. I had the 212+ and that thing is HUGE! I ended up swapping it for a H50. My i7 idles at 28-30C and in games it jumps to around 47C.

Also, +1 for getting a monitor. His TV won't do a $2000 build justice. I've never been a big fan of flat screens over 50", as I feel that the resolution needs to be super high in order to make it not so pixelated (if that's a word).
