Need skyrim build, 2k budget - Page 3

Thanks guys! I really appreciate all the responses. I think I will go with the 580 because, what the heck, why not. I do like the asus board, but I'm also partial to mine

All great suggestions. I was thinking of the caviar black instead of the f3, thoughts on that?

As far as an ssd, I don't think I'll do that. I want this to be rock solid, and ssd's have too high a failure rate for me. When I put this together, I don't want to hear anything but how awesome it is for a long time to come, lol.

Your ASRock P67 Extreme4 Gen3 board is awesome, Yea go with that then. No SSD? If just boot and games, he won't lose anything vital. Maybe 10 business days between SSD's is it. That's assuming it does fail.

I agree with the aforementioned 50 inch or whatever not doing the computer justice. This budget is huge, Eyefinity

There is a board that supports PCIe 3.0 for when Ivy-Bridge comes out wouldn't that be better?

SSDs do not fail early, it's just the Sandforce-based SSDs that are crap. Other SSDs like the Crucial M4 or the Intel 510/320 are extremly reliable and won't brake fast at all. If you're afraid though, get a 1TB drive for storage and something like a caviar green 1,5TB/2TB and make a back up of both drives on it every week/month/etc.

Yeah...lol, not gonna happen. He won't be doing that. He will be using this to play a few games on and that's it. I appreciate it though. I will think about it for sure.

dont waste money on an SSD. Use the money from that for a monitor/throw more at the GPU.

A magnetic HDD is only gonna make you wait longer to start the game, and I'd rather have a longer wait time, but nicer details in game.
