Is it safe?

Thread Starter
Is it safe for my 2500k @4.8GHz to be idling at 41c all day long?

My load temps are about 70c, so I'm not worried about that; it's the idle temps that concern me.

I mean after awhile at idling at 41c day and night, could it damage the processor?

I'm using the Hyper 212 Plus.

Thanks to anyone who can help me!

if i overclocked my cpu very far it'll be same..

but over 70°c on load thats queit alot
go back to 4.5ghz and less voltage

what is your voltage anyway?

did you run prime95 for 6 or 12 hours?
if your load is 71% i wonder what would the temp be after 6 hours lol..

anyway its to high

My volts are at 1.360
I ran Prime95 for over 24 hours. I'm not really concerned with the load temps because the max/cutoff temp is 98c I believe, so 70 is really nothing and doesn't scare me in the least. When I was OCed to 5.0GHz a few months ago, my load temps with Prime95 were in the mid 80's and it still didn't bother me. If it were dangerous, they wouldn't set the cutoff temp at 98c.

What I was worried about are the idle temps. When I'm not gaming, I was concerned with it idling at 40+ for hours on end. But apparently, it's safe, so I'm leaving it.

And I also realize it's summer. But that's not in the equation because my room is air conditioned and is constantly 63 degrees.

To the OP, your good, both load temps and idle temps.
Your ambient room temp is going to have a lot to do with your idle temps. Plus your not using top of the line air cooling, but the 212 is a good mid, to mid/high cooler.

Load temps with Prime95 are in the 70's.

Load temps when I'm gaming are much lower; usually in the low 50's because gaming doesn't max out all 4 cores constantly like Prime95 does.
