Question about Voltages on 2500k w/o LLC enabled.

Thread Starter
I have a 2500k that I have recently started overclocking without LLC enabled. I see WAY lower temps than with LLC enabled, even though I have to set the Vcore higher in the bios to make the chip stable. Right now, I am running at 4.7ghz, and the Vcore is set to 1.4 in the bios, I know that most people are saying 1.4v is the limit on air, but is that because normally the temps are too high?

at 4.7ghz 1.4v I am seeing 1.37v under P95 load and 1.33v under IBT (very high)

Basically, I guess what I am asking is as long as my temps stay chilly, and I stay under the VID max, is pumping more than 1.4v without LLC enabled going to cause any kind of crazy damage?

Thanks in advance all!

yeah, temps are the primary limiter in OCing on air....if you are getting good temps, and arent worried about something happening and causing them to spike, then go for whatever vcore you fancy.

within reason of course.

cool, thanks. I am going to try something like 1.46v when I get home. See if I cant get stable @ 5ghz. Now, if I am to understand correctly, not having LLC enabled is actually better for the chip in the long run (atleast in theory) because the voltage drop under load is a good thing... is this just me interpreting things my own special way, or is this correct?
