First build, Thoughts?

Thread Starter
So this is my first build and i just want to get some thoughts on it, i am aiming for it to be pretty high spec.

Case: NZXT tempest evo
MOBO: Asus p8z68-v pro
CPU: Intel i5 2500k (overclocked)
GPU: Asus 6970 (overclocked)
PSU: Corsiar HX750
Storage: 2x samsung f3 1tb (raid 0)
RAM: Gskil Ripjaws 8gb (2x4gb)
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake frio
Sound Card: Xonar DG

will be adding a second 6970 this christmas.

PS. The ram is only 1333mhz, is it worth upgrading to 1600mhz ram?

Case: NZXT tempest evo - Id go with HAF 932 or HAF X personally
MOBO: Asus p8z68-v pro - Do you need z68 or p67 be enough? If so the Asus P8P67 Pro would be my choice.
CPU: Intel i5 2500k (overclocked) - Good
GPU: Asus 6970 (overclocked) - Good
PSU: Corsiar HX750 - Not bad PSU
RAM: Gskil Ripjaws 8gb (2x4gb) - Good, but your gonna want the 1600mhz kit, CL7 is best but slightly more expensive that the CL8 kit. (You mean RipjawsX yes?)
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake frio - Not heard of that, Id go with: Megahalem/noctua d14/corsair H80.
Sound Card: Xonar DG - not sure about that!

Hope this helps!

Thermaltake frio is great. Nearly the same results with NHD14.

$ilent- yeah the frio is awesome and is one of the best coolers on the market, and i totally need the soundcard because i have very high end headphones and don't want any interference in my audio. As for the case it's really just a stand in to let me get the 6970 instead of the 6950 but i am moving everything to a phantom shortly.

My overclock is stable but what i want to know is if i will see a sizeable increase in performance if i upgrade to 1600mhz.

it should be because this ram would allow you to oc it even a lil bit more, could bring some fps so if a game is runnin barely fluent with 19fps, it could make it playable with 23 or something BUT this depends also on cpu- and your GPU OC. i cannot give you further infos due i do not use the new sockets.. cya
