Would the Silver Arrow fit?

Thread Starter
I have the NZXT M59 case, and i need a cpu cooler. Measured the clearance last night, to a point, and got around 6 5/8 inches, if i did it rightt. I also have ram with large heatsinks, Patriot Sector 5 4gb. Now, the question is, would the Silver arrow fit? and which does OCN consider higher priority, buying a 6950 or a heatsink?

I would get an H80 over a Silver Arrow. Don't have to worry about RAM clearance then.

But I would rather get a 6950. It should be worth more than a higher CPU overclock.

Somewhat on a budget to be honest, thats why i was going to choose one over the other. I know that the Zalman 9900 fits, and cools reasonabally well. As an added bonus, its only 55-ish on newegg now. What about dat?

After a quick google search it looks like your ram is about 42mm tall. Here's a post with Corsair Dominators under the SA...they are 54mm tall and definitely won't fit under the SA or the front TY-140 fan. Unless you plan on OC'ing your ram I would remove the heatspreaders if you want a Push/Pull config...or you could leave em on and use a Pull/Pull config. Both give the same temps within 1c of each other.

That's a good deal on the dh-14 as well. Both coolers are super quiet.

I am going to keep the heatsinks, as my ram is rated for 1600, advertising an oc to 2000, which is what i do now.

I have the 9900 Max and it is no slouch. I may upgrade to the Archon because I am looking for a large, quiet tower cooler. Don't get me wrong, I love my 9900 but it is certainly not worth the $80 sticker. I paid $60 for mine. At $55? sure. That's definitely worth it.
