[SOLVED] Opening /usr/bin causes all folders to close

Ok, so, have an odd problem here.

Running Ubuntu 11.04, trying to set conky to start at startup (which I have done on two other machines with no issues). Went to "Startup Applications", clicked on ADD, named it "conky", browsed to the .conky executable in the /usr/bin folder. Restarted and it appeared, but it was overlapping the upper taskbar. No changes were made to the config file, and when I start it manually that does not happen.

Now, that's not the REAL problem here. Just some background, that is ALL I have done. Now, all of a sudden, when I use the GUI to navigate to the /usr/bin folder, as soon as I double click on the /usr/bin folder, the folder view closes completely.

Now, if I navigate to the /usr/bin folder in terminal, I can run conky manually, use "ls" to list all files, ect.

I restarted the system and it still closes the folder view whenever I open /usr/bin.

Ideas?? LOL

it's the amount of files, must be a bug with the file browser viewing too many files.

It's a known bug in Nautilus:

The solution is to find broken symlinks and delete them. This will give you a list of broken symlinks (courtesy of THIS site)
find . -type l | (while read FN ; do test -e "$FN" || ls -ld "$FN"; done)

Nice, a critical upstream bug that is several months old and has barely any activity.

Awesome, ran that and found 4 results. Deleted them in terminal and I can open the folder now.

I spent 30 minutes Google-ing before posting and didn't find either of those sites, LOL
