Should I return this 2500k? - Page 3

I dont think it will do much good having it faster than 4.5 ghz to be honest the voltage needed is usually higher and the gain in most cases cannot be noticed....

Lol I havent taken it back yet, hence the thread title asking the question, as apposed to opinions on the decision taken yes

Im sure I wouldnt be the first to do this if i did take it back. Who does it ruin it for though out of curiosity?

The shop I buy from must be doing well, otherwise they would not still be operating, and intel is bigger than ever.

for 1 intel and the shop you bought it from its very dishonest im sure if more and more ppl try and return there chip because its not as good as others they may alter there return policy.

EDIT i have one of the worst 2600k chips and u dont see me sending it back i cant even get 4.7Ghz stable with 1.40VCore

It is either just resold or inspected. If inspected that just add cost to the product if resold some unlucky turd gets a used product for the price of new

How does your chip perform?
It passed a 12+ hour prime95 stability test @ 1.445v, any lower than that and I would have a worker fair 8-11 hours in. I've lowered some other settings, and played with my RAM, so I'm going to try again @ 1.44v tonight. Either way, it's good enough for me, although I wanted that 5.0ghz OC, I just don't think that's going to happen with this chip.

I agree with not abusing the return policy. There is nothing wrong with your chip. Just because it's not in the top 10% of all 2500k chips is not a good reason to abuse the return policy.

Chances are, if you have to RMA through Intel, they aren't going to take it back anyway. I hear they will test it and when it works flawlessly at stock they will charge you ALL of the shipping costs for you to get your same chip back.

If they do take it back, the chances of you getting a worse chip are greater than you getting a chip which is equal or better. Your chip is better than 50% of the chips I have seen.

Isn't discussing unethical behavior against the rules anyway?

well I dont think i will be returning it, thanks all. Just to point out I was just asking for opinions..dont post bad stuf cos you assume I do this all the time. I have never returned any computer part before.

keep it, not everyone is lucky enough to say that their chip runs at 4.8ghz, trust me I've seen plenty that can't hit those speeds with those voltages.
