Worth going to SATA III from SATA II? - Page 2

It's only worth it for an SSD, so in your case yes.

The difference will NOT be that noticeable for most usage. Those numbers are sequential performance. You are most likely not moving that many large files nor with deep queue depths.

This ^^^^^^

The Sandforce 2281 drives are benchmark queens. You won't notice a difference in usage in the real world.

Plus you don't have to worry about the 2281 bsod bug with the drive you have.

Doesn't matter. All versions of the Corsair Force 3 encounter the bug. Corsair is at Sandforce's mercy on this one. Sandforce is a bigger partner with OCZ and they haven't been able to fix it for OCZ either.

And it doesn't help that Sandforce is blaming the p67 chipset which the OP has.

My C300 128gb SSD runs on a SATA3 and I've had no problems and the speed is great, so I'd recommend it but I guess I've never tried it on my SATA2 so I can't necessarily say it's 'x' amount faster but if you think about it the slowest connection or read speed is going to bottle neck the faster speeds.

But what I'd say is if your going from HDD to SSD then you'll notice the difference in speed straight away whether it's SATA 2 or 3 but if your getting an SSD after already having experience of the SSD speed I'd recommend plodding it out and getting the SATA 3 as it won't cost you anything you'll only have to wait a few more days

I have to say I have a 1TB HDD that runs SATA2 and a 2TB HDD that runs on SATA3 and I don't notice much difference so personally I'd say SATA3 is useless for things that don't saturate a SATA2 connection ie things like HDD's and DVD/BR drives aren't worth a SATA3 connection ;p

I'm gonna see how the Nova 2 works for me. if it's to a point where I'm not satisfied (which I shouldn't be because i'm coming from platter HD) I'm going to look into Crucial M4.

I have to keep myself away from the force 3. it's cheap at 70 bucks, but with all the problems, I'd pull all my hair out that I already lost. lol
