EVGA Warranty on GPU

I have a card that is second hand and I know they wont allow free repairs for that. So I was wondering, would they be willing to repair my GTX 480 if I paid them? like $150 for repairs? Or do they not do that

Talk to the person you bought it from to help assist with a RMA.

I never get a reply from my friend. Would EVGA repair anything if I paid them?

They may, but they could also want a proof of purchase for the card to make sure it wasn't tampered.

Nope, you can't really repair video cards (for the most part). The cost to pay a qualified technician to diagnosis and repair cards is too much.
Once again...

The card was definitely not tampered with. I think their technicians would be able to tell if it was. The card was also working beautifully until the day before yesterday a lightning bolt hit my backyard during a storm and wiped out the card... Now I get no picture at all from the card

I wasn't even home at the time and my PC wasn't on. Never thought this would ever happen to me. I have two cards, now only one of them works and the other gives no picture

If it was connected to a surge suppressor you would have been fine. I'm surprised other components in your rig isn't dead as well. Perhaps that bolt did damage to other parts other than you GPU? Have you tried putting in another video card to check if it works? How can you be so sure it was the GPU?

call them. i had a 7600gt that i bought used and they allowed me to send it in for an RMA and re-register for lifetime warranty!!! Calling is always the best option

I just tried calling and within a minute I was told nothing could be done. I said I am having a problem with my GPU but I dont have the warranty and is there any way I can have the warranty transferred over to my name or even buy the warranty, and the guy on the phone simply said "no the warranty is only for the original buyer"

I even tried e-mailing saying that Im willing to pay for repairs up to $300 but they wont allow it.

Looks like Im screwed then? What in the world do I do with this card?? They dont even sell this model anymore in stores (Hydro Copper GTX 480). I guess maybe keep the waterblock and dump the card in trash? The whole card was in mint condition too.

What a crappy and random way to lose a nice piece of hardware

Everything (except top GPU) works perfectly when i plug my monitor into GPU#2. GPU#1 isnt even detected in BIOS or device manager after the storm. My system only sees one GPU. I tried testing one GPU at a time and its that one GPU that wont give any picture

Sorry for the double post
