In my opinion its pointless to have a separate reservoir when you can have it in your radiator. Just more line and distance for the water to go.

This is the mounting place of pump, you would have to manufacture some new parts to keep pump and radiator separated. Swiftech also has a model with just integrated reservoir, that might be better for you.

You mean those bent fins ? Rad has been sitting on shelf a long time, someone had put some some other stuff on top of it.

Yes, those seem to be more limited than the Drive rev.2 version, it also supports horizontal orientation.
