It is just annoying and a noobie thing to do.
lol PUHLEASE

"in war" you don't see people magically brought back to life and made 100% healthy with some defib paddles or an adrenaline shot after getting blow apart with an RPG.

"in war" you can't run around with an M60 machine gun and wield it with any sort of accuracy without deploying it

"in war" you can't deploy a magic ammo box as many time as you want and never run out of ammo

"in war" ... when you die, you're dead, that's it, not even ARMA gets this right, so just stop it, please, its a video game, its meant to be fun, not realistic

People who prefer Battlefield over COD do so because of the more role and team oriented classes as well as world interactive vehicles

people who don't like quick scopes are people who just don't like getting owned

while IRL you can't quick scope you can at least reflexively shoot the sniper rifle, something you can't really do in a video game because of the over-exaggerated penalty of no-scope blind fire hip shots are worse than holding the a rifle in a ready position and reflexively shooting IRL

Exactly. Play to win, it pretty much applies to all competitive games.

You posted your opinion of the game and how to play. YOU think something else would be more suited to that situation, yet others can make it work.

Point is, if there are 6 people on your team camping at the hills instead of taking points then I personally agree that sucks. However, I'd just find another server and get on with my life. That's how those people are playing the game and once again I refer you to my sig.

Also, apologies for the harsh nature of my first post and all the whinge talk. I just get pretty frustrated when others (in this thread) assume control of how others play.
I didn't say that someone didn't have the right to play a class, if they are good at it and wish to play it, so be it.

The point was it is perfectly justifiable to dislike that half your team (especially when playing attacker) are playing recon - I am aware they have a right to play whatever class they want but it doesn't mean it's a good, helpful choice and it certainly doesn't mean you should just accept it no matter what, after all it is first and foremost a team based game.

As an example, I mainly play on clan server as I am a recruit rank and I have to make sure I am active during my trial period.

I am playing as an attacker on Port Valdez, half my team decides it would be a good idea to play as Recon and camp up on the wookie hill. I would be perfectly justified to call them out, they are pretty much going to cost us the game by doing that.

I found an image that illustrates it:

When you are trying to plant on A+B in a rush game and half the team is camping at 'Bush Wookie Territory' as marked on the map I would definitely call them out - there is no point in the rest of the team losing purely because people want to play Recon, whether they have a right to or not.

There is a clear difference in playing it because it is helpful and playing it because you seem to think you have a right to and that is the end of the discussion.

I don't see why the players that are actually effectively contributing to the game should leave because a group of players think what they are doing is actually helping or maybe they just want to rack up some kills.

The other sections of the map is a clearly more effective place to be located and more than justifies using a Recon but sitting half way across the map and contributing nothing is neither justified or acceptable in such a heavily team based game such as this.

Those who QQ about quick scope just hate being the victim. I love the Recon class and play it all the time in close combat quarters, but usually play with a semi-auto sniper rifle and a small circle sticker on my monitor where the cross hairs would meet if I was scoped in, just to save me from having to Quick scope.

People are going to cry, and scream at their monitors, and no one wins every round. Haters gotta Hate.

Quickscopers are just as easy to kill as any other player on the map. I don't do it, I don't mind if others do it. I prefer to join a squad and carry out the objective. I prefer quickscopers over recon's that like to sit back at base to increase their K/D ratio and take out anyone trying to get to their only captured firebase, only to lose the round. That's just lazy.

Problem is; I agree with you. It's not good for the team and you're not going to win like that. You said I think it's ok to play like that? I don't play like that. I'm usually all over the place (whether my squad is, to be honest) but I don't call people out on playing like that. I usually just move servers. I don't feel I have a right.

We generally don't get people like that on =SASS=, though. Which clan do you play for and would you like to exchange usernames? (seeing as you're in the UK and ping wouldn't be too bad for me).
EDIT:

Also, said it in other threads but I'm still happy with my HS's to kills ratio for the recon class. Second best gun I use is the SV98, something like 680 kills, 450 HS's. I generally don't think it's even possible to get hits like that when you're a mile away sat in a bush.

I also play for =SASS= (Small world).

=SASS= Browncoat on the forums.

As I'm a low level I normally play on the 23noob server which lately has been full of recon (Summer holidays ), especially on Port Valdez.

If a tactic provides you with the greatest advantage, and your goal is to win, then you would be foolish not to abuse it. Whether or not camping is "playing 2 win" it a case by case basis. Some matches is will be the best method, some matches it won't.

Someone who is really playing to win will know how to make that determination on the fly, and adjust his tactics accordingly.

That article, which of course you knew I was referencing, should be required reading for anyone who plays competitive games.

I would have linked it, but I am at work, so thanks for that

One interesting point I like to bring up is the issue I have with player ran servers. These allow the "scrub" to actually force their pretend rules on everyone (no marty in COD, no AWP in CS, etc). This is one reason why I will always prefer dedicated servers.
