Will V6GT Good for my CPU

Thread Starter
Hello,

I have newly bought CM-HAF 922, ASUS P8H61 M LX mobo, Intel Core I3-2100 3.10Ghz CPU and Zotac GT8600(512mb) graphic Card and playing Crysis 2 it plays good for sometime in between it gets slow for 30 to 40 seconds again it works fine.

I think the problem is my CPU is getting heat so I am planning to buy V6GT for my CPU will this work for me or there any better suggestions will be appreciated thanks.

Before we go replacing a heatsink which is more than capable, lets see how hot your CPU is getting.

Download Intel Burn Test and Coretemp.

Run them both and then start Intel Burn Test on 20 runs. Then see how hot your CPU is getting.

Thanks

I hope you didn't just buy that 8600.
Anyway, that's most likely the problem causing the slowdowns.

LOL WUT?

Nothing wrong with that CPU, it's the old style quad core which is more than enough for gaming. It wouldn't cause that sort of slow down anyway.

i doubt that the cpu is the culprit of that slowdowns you are experiencing.. I think its more of a gpu issues.. are you using stock hsf at the moment? If so, yes, v6gt is a good cooler, good compared to an h50.

I'd say go through everything everyone's said up to this point. As for the V6GT, it cools like a champ and isn't very loud, at least in my opnion. I dont' know if it'll fit in the 922, but it fits fine in my 932 with the side fan installed.

I have to agree, you should check the video card's temps and what not.

Ahhh I was helping someone with a Q8600 overclocking in another thread... Posting too much FTW!

Yeah teh 8600GT is a bit lagging tbh. If you want a good budget GPU then get a second hand GTX280 if you can. If you want a new GPU then the GTX560ti will be epic.

His GPU is the GT8600.

*Nevermind. You caught it before I posted.

The problem looks to be your GPU.

Heat is only a matter if:
You didn't mount your CPU cooler properly.
The fan isn't working.
You have overclocked the CPU beyond the thermal capabilities of the stock cooler.
