Since consumer-based Kepler isn't out for a while...

...should I SLI my GTX 570. I was initially planning to SLI my 570 around January but then I realized that Kepler was coming out soon and I decided that I was going to upgrade to the new architecture. Now that reports have shown that the 600 series is OEM only, should I just SLI and get something equivalent or better than my 570 later in the year when it does actually release?

I say sli , for the money its going to be your best option. Prices are slowly dropping on 500 series cards. Keep your eye open for sales, rebates and grab yourself another 570.

PS. sli 570,s will be all you need for a while. IMO

What do you currently play that requires more power? If you can wait and would rather you're money get the most possible, then either upgrading to Kepler or buying a 570 then for even cheaper would be best. If yoou really think you'd like more power now then the MSI TFIII 570 for $325 at amazon is the best deal currently.

I'll make my decision whether or not to make an upgrade when the time comes. I probably won't actually need it. I know for sure I don't need it now but I might when games like BF3 and others that require better hardware releases.

I was going to immediately upgrade to Kepler when it comes out early 12 regardless if I needed it or not. I wanted to get on the newer architecture. I probably still might do that but those reports saying that I won't be able to do that until the 700 series seem to point me in a different direction.

I haven't seen anything saying Nvidia won't release a new consumer GPU in first half 2012 atleast, and if I did I still wouldn't believe them.

I think he's referencing this thread:
http://www.overclock.net/rumors-unco...ries-28nm.html

It would seem the 600 series will be a 28nm OEM Fermi refresh and the 700 series will be the first Kepler cards. But nothing is confirmed, especially not release dates.

Anyway I think Juano summed it up pretty well. Honestly I doubt you'll need SLI for BF3. All signs point to it being less demanding than Metro/Crysis 2 thus far.

Maybe just a little overclocking.

That's reading into it, and why that article is in the rumors section. 600 series will be kepler. They are testing the die shrink with a known working architecture (kepler) to make sure it works. Then they will put kepler on it. If you're not going for surround or huge resolutions of any sort that 570 you have will get you to kepler. Unless you need to blow some money just save it. Like was mentioned, BF3 will not push any harder than BFBC2.
