Xbox Wireless control pads disconnecting constantly in nNeed for Speed

Hi everyone,

Been happening for a while now. 2 or 3 months maybe. But I've just been avoiding the game and control pads so haven't really noticed.

Basically I have one of those cool wireless adapters that lets you play use your wireless xbox control pad on your pc. It was working flawlessly until my control pads (both of them) began to randomly poweroff and disconnect. I thought this was only in NFS but I just remembered it also happening when I've been playing Street Fighter. So it doesn't appear to be a game specific problem. I've got a wired control pad and a fight stick which never disconnect (probably because they're wired) and I'm pretty sure the control pads are fine as it's weird that 2 pads would do the same thing. The only constants between them are the rechargeable batteries and the looseness of the battery packs I use and the wireless dongle. The batteries seem pretty unlikely so could this be a problem with the dongle? I've tried re-installing (or updating not too sure lol) the software but that had no effect.

Ideas?

Edit: forgot to add that in NFS the game lags massively before a disconnect and will often force me into a bad turn before disconnecting. Hope this helps...

Usually when I'm using my controller and I shake it from frustration or move it up and down to fast it disconnects. Damn loose battery packs....I've since duck taped them to the controller and have been disconnect free for awhile. Try new batteries for the hell of it, if that doesn't work go buy another dongle for 15 bucks. If you are to cheap for that buy a dongle take out the new one put in the old one return it and get your money back.....

Sounds like it is software related, try reinstalling the adapter and its software. Also there are 3rd part xbox360 controller drivers that work nicer than microsofts generic one. I use a wired one and the 3rd party drivers are superior to MS's -_-

I know it doesnt solve your problem, but if it was me I would just use wired controller, they cost ike 5 quid second hand and never need chargin.

I used to lvoe the wireless controllers, but the fact i had to change/recharge batteries every 5 mins did my head in. I went to computer exchange in city centre and bought a wired pad for like 5 quid, worked ever since and that was over a year ago.
