OMEGA CLARO Plus+ or ASUS Xonar D2X

For gaming as well as music/movies, in short all-rounder, which is better?
Take into account that I can get ASUS for 100€ and OMEGA for 130€.

I think you should also throw in the Xonar DX for good measure. There's not much of an audible difference between the Xonar D2X and the DX. The DX also has a front panel header so you can switch between speakers in the back and headphones in the front.

Music/movies should be similar/same on both cards since they both use either the CMedia OxygenHD CMI8788 DSP or a variant of it.

D2X over DX has:

Code:
DTS Connect: Includes DTS Interactive and DTS NEO:PC
DTS Interactive for real time AC-3 encoding and
DTS NEO: PC stereo to multi-channel expander

As well as aluminum insulation around the card
The thing is I'd get D2X for 40€ more than DX, and I really dont want to change my sound card for a long time after this purchase, so I think that D2X should be the clear choice between the two.

But thanks for clarifying that D2X ~= Claro+ (which is 30% more expensive).
I guess I'm gonna buy ASUS Xonar D2X then.

dont get the D2X , the Claro+ is better than it , the only con about the Claro is it's PCI not PCIe

I agree with RallyMaster the DX is better , and cheaper

And BTW the D2X has awaful performance im gaming , it is a card meant for Music only , and it has low build quality

None of the DTS features are really useful unless you find utility in them (which I didn't). The aluminum shield also doesn't do anything because the card is still surrounded by a bunch of EMI. You'd have to enclose the entire card in aluminum before EMI is completely eliminated.

The most useful thing on the DX/D1 would be the ability to switch between front panel and rear outputs. The D2X doesn't even have a front panel header.

I currently own D2X, as mentioned above the build quality is below average. After a week of normal usage analog output broke(only outputting buzz noise), and the card itself generates some sort of cracking noise randomly, not to mention their drivers have numerous wired issues that were never addressed. Also, IMHO, the controller UI is extremely hard to understand/use.

However, I have to admit the sound quality is quite impressive, huge improvement over my previous card(Creative XtremeGamer).

I've already ordered OMEGA CLARO Plus +, shall arrive in a few days.
