Best fan at Microcenter?

Thread Starter
I'm looking to replace the stock fan for my dark knight cooler for something quieter. I'm going to MC over lunch to replace my dying optical drive anyway and was wonder what the best option for a quiet fan was among what they carry.

Quiet operation is the key!

Thanks! and rep for responses!

Does that take a 120mm? If so, I recommend the CoolerMaster R4's.

They are by far the quietest fans in my case, and seem to move a lot of air. You can get them with LED's or plain.

Just my 2c worth...hope it helps,

Rich

Scythe Slip Stream or Ultra Kaze

Comment on the R4's

Their specs are grossly overrated. I had two of them on my Megahalems Cooler.

They are a decent fan, but I feel you are paying a premium for cool colors -_-

When building my wife's new rig I put the R4's against my Gentle Typhoon AP-13 1350 RPM

I found the AP-13 to be better.

So When available I would only use the R4's as Case fans and use Gentle Typhoons for CPU cooling.

Right now I have 2 AP-13s on the megahalems and 6 GT AP-15s on my Radiator.

Gentle Typhoons are great fans for Quiet performance.

If you want to go Crazy grab some Delta's or Panaflo fans.

They are loud though.

If you wish to have a leer jet Case... the Scythe 3000 and 5000 RPM fans could probably produce hurricane winds in your home.

I kind of had the opposite experience. I now have the R4's in P/P on my Hyper 212 Plus and they work great. They were also the cheapest fans I bought.

I would love to try the AP-15's one of these days as they do seem to be very highly regarded.

I do have the GT 3000rpm, and you are right about the noise. It's the loudest thing in my case when cranked above 1800-2000rpm.
