2600k high temperature with D14

Thread Starter
So I finally got all my parts together and the cpu was the last of them. I have everything running fine expect the temperature looks way to high. At stock I idled around 40 and under load with prime 95 it hits 70s. I reseated the d14 and still no good. I even tried the stock cooler, under load it hits 93 o_o. I've turned off ht the temperature dropped a bit but it's still hot. So far I clocked it to 4.7ghz with ht disabled, in games it barely touches 70 and when primed it almost hits 80. Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe theres something wrong with my bios setting?

Dumb question, did you use tim?

Probably not enough of it or too much.

lol well no ****. I tried both arctic silver 5 and the noctura thermal paste, both small dot and identical temperatures. Like I said I even tried the stock cooler to make sure.

You need more bolt on pressure is my guess.

Check to see if your cpu and cooler are flat, using a razor blade and some light.

Cpu could be a dud, just not making good contact inside the cpu die to the IHS.

I dont know man

Disable HyperThreading if you don't need it - it makes little to no impact in games.

Double check if you've got the fans set up correctly on the right sides - push/pull, etc.

HT is already disabled with little noticeable difference and the fans are in the right direction.

Case airflow maybe...... your sig says you have a ****ty case - so if you upgraded all new parts into an old ****ty case then maybe your airflow needs adjusting.
