Ambient temperature can effect cpu temps too, but not 20+ degrees difference. Unless you have your puter in the oven.

I vote for user error with the TIM.
haha I know its all confusing with numbers and stuff. With stock cooler I idle at 40 and full load at 93 @ all stock settings. Before my d14 had a high temperature but it seems fine now with 40 idle and 65-68 at full load @ 4.5ghz and 1.3v

check the offset temps in the program are right ... when you say temps hit 93*C, does distance to TJ max become like 7*C?

I wasn't paying attention, I tried the stock cooler just to get an idea of where it stand with the D14.

I don't think you're that bad, If you look at the Sandy Bridge guys at 4.7-4.8 some of them are at 80 like I am at full load.

At 4.8 @ 1.4 i'm idling at 38 (throttled) and my hottest core will hit 85 under Prime small packets. But its also like 28-30 c in my room.

I have the same cooler as the OP, and I have clocks and voltage very similar to you (jermzz that is). I get low 70's in Prime and about 74 or 75 with Intel Burn Test (ambient is only about 22 C though). HT is on.

For that cooler and not overclocked, 70's is way too high. Yet for overclocked temps I would say high 70's is not too bad, but that should be with HT on.

Sorry, no really suggestions. I think the obvious is covered. Double check all your bios settings to make sure you don't have a ton of voltage going into it. That is about all I got.

OP. Your temp is normal at 4.7GHz.
I get almost same temp at 4.8 with my D14.
Ambient temp and case air flow is everything for air cooling.
Even you have D14, if the ambient and the case air flow wasn't good, it doesn't perform well.
