13 blue screens, all NTOSKRNL related.

Thread Starter

I posted on here a pretty good while back and thought I would post an updated thread. Sorry if I can't do that, as I'm fairly new. Anyway, all except for 2 of my blue screens are NTOSKRNL related. I have tried both sets of my ram, the 2gb OCZ Gold stick, and the 4gb Micro Center black label ram, and I still get the BSOD's. Now, the other night, I had a weird crash with Bad Company 2. The game loaded, the computer crashed, and then I went to re-load it and it said some files were corrupt. So, I un installed and re-installed it. However, when trying to re-install it, I heard a very faint click coming from my hard drive. PER-CLICK...PER-CLICK at random, about every 15 seconds. I know the drive isn't failing because everything else runs flawless and this is the ONLY time it's done it. However it has me questioning Seagate's build quality. Anyway, I tried to install it maybe 3 times, and it blue screened each time, which are the 8/20 through 8/21 crashes on the attached image. I'm at my witts end here. Sick and tired of my 700 dollar build doing this BS. Tried Vista and Windows 7, both 64 bit. Almost tempted to rip it off and put the 2gb stick back in and run XP.

Image is a real pain to read, but most of those look like they could be memory/IMC related.

Have you manually set the correct timings and subtimings for the memory you are using?

first thing i would do is run a chkdsk with repair - either through command line
Code:
chkdsk /f /r
or by right clicking on the drive and going to properties>tools>error checking and selecting try to fix bad sectors and what not

could also run memtest 86 on each stick one at a time to check for errors

Guys, sorry about the image. I didn't realize it would be resized...when I view it on Photobucket, it shows full screen. I'm going to try the ram timings now...just bought a small Kingsford charcoal smoker so I'm seasoning it with a fire and doing this at the same time. Pulled pork and a beer anyone?

Just had another one..clicked on clear history in firefox and it blue screened with a "PFN LIST CORRUPT" and the bugcheck was code 4e. Then the computer wouldn't boot into anything..no logo, no bios, no nothing. Pulled the ram out and put the OCZ gold 2 gb stick in and it worked. Put the 4gb ram back in for total of 6 and I went to restart it and it wouldn't boot. So I'm leaving the 2gb OCZ stick in it for now.

11-11-11? That's ridiculously high.... might as well be running SDRAM at that timings
Have you tried simply.... running memtest?
Thread Starter
Ran memtest, and did what I was told to do on those ram timings. Guess what? The ram won't work now. Running it with a 2gb OCZ gold stick now, that I originally bought when I built it. Micro center has a good deal on some ram closeouts...Corsair 4gb kit for around 25 bucks, the Micro Center black label is around 15 for a 4gb kit..the one that I managed to burn up...I'm starting to think that, at this point, it's my motherboard. XFX refuses to offer any help after they saw the blue screen image that I sent them, the same image that I posted above, because none of them are ATI specific. I thought XFX had some of the best warranty made? Won"t be buying an XFX or Biostar product again. I have a lifetime warranty on the video card and a 3 year warranty on the motherboard. Both companies blame windows. Is it really going to cost you THAT MUCH to just replace it WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR? Under warranty?

Not to mention I'm on leave from work for a few days with a severe sinus infection and cold, what a great combination, so my patience and temper are wore just about as thin as I can get them. If it weren't for them just telling me no without letting me explain, I would accept it and move on. Biostar's customer service is a Comedy Barn laughing JOKE.

Bump on thread...replaced ram. Micro Center took the ram back and replaced it with an 8gb PNY 2x4gb kit for me. I literally paid 5 dollars more for 4 more gigs...got home and installed it and had 2 blue screens within literally 3 minutes. Both were Battlefield Bad Company 2 related, but after I put the OCZ 2gb stick back in, in addition to the new 8 gb, they have stopped for now. I'm now looking at a possible motherboard or ::Bites bullet:: processor issue. Blue screens were so quick that BlueScreenView, nor Windows, caught the errors.
