Is Ram really the speed it says it is.

Thread Starter
hello everyone i have had many people tell me that ram is not clocked at what it says it is clocked to.

people say that you need to overclock that ram to the speed it says it is it is.

i have 8g of 2000 clocked ram.
and it was at like 543 when i was looking at the speed.

if there is 4g sticks running at 500mz
does not mean 4x500 makes 2000 and that is the right speed.

ps: i do not know a lot about ram so all the help that you need from me i will try my best. and if i need to overclock what post is the best. and if i do not know to do anything how do i see my ram speed that right away at 2000.

You do not multiply the number of DIMMs to get memory speed.

If your memory is running at 543MHz, that is DDR-1086.

You will need to manually set memory speed to run it higher, and depending on platform, may need to overclock the CPU or IMC substantially to do this.

Download CPUZ and check the memory tab, multiply whatever you see by 2. You will also be able to see everything regarding clocks using this program

Will do MR KROGOTH!

As was requested, please download CPUZ, and take a screen shot of CPUZ on the memory tab, and post that please! Not the SPD tab, but the Memory tab!

Also, if you could list the Make, Model, Speed, and rated stock timings, that would be great!

IE: G.Skill....Ripjaws....DDR3-2000....9-9-9-24

Or you could just post a link to your memory! Thanks

RAM often defaults to a lower Jedec profile. You have to enable the XMP profile, or manually set the frequency/timings yourself to get the rated frequency/timings.

So in a way you are overclocking the RAM. But not in the literal sense.

Was looking for those.

Run CPUzed and tell us what it says in the memory section, and check the SPD to make sure they even sent you the right sticks, because there is a BIG difference between 1100 and 2000.
