Change 5v Toshiba A210 fan

Hi Pep's.

I was given a Toshiba A210 which keeps over heating...I have some Arctic Silver 5 in the post but was wondering if it would be possible to change the fan.

I saw this on eBay http://i54.tinypic.com/sgo39u.jpg it's for a Sony Vaio but is a 12v fan which should fun at a faster rpm right?

As far as I can see, I should be able to place this fan in the Toshiba's CPU fan housing.

Now here's where I am stuck, if I was to plug this into the same socket, would the output still only be 5v thus giving me no benefit of the 12v fan?

Does anyone have any ideas on how I could get this idea working without simply hard wiring it into some 12v connection elsewhere? I assume the 3rd wire on the 5v fan communicates with a thermostat somewhere which regulates the fans speed?

Thanks in advance...
