Asking for website inspiration

Hello. I am having some trouble establishing the desired look I want for my website. The website type is a web design business. I have been working in Dreamweaver for months now and still have not come up with anything that I can build on. I have been looking through dozens of sites that offer free templates and none have satisfied me. Please take a look at my logo and if you can suggest some way to start my website. Thanks, Joe.

For me when I need inspiration for a design I look at what my competition in the area is...then design something better...

I have found this quote to be true...

"A designer cannot design his/her own website, they have to look for someone else to do it for them."

I've worked in a number of design studios and I can tell you their own websites aren't designed by them...they outsourced it.

But that's just my experience.

When I have a web block, I like to visit Kuler, set up a color base. Then work some magic in Photoshop. Carve and convert a .psd to xhtml and css. You can find cool ideas with css3 and html5 online.

Google has some real cool tools, like google web fonts-put any font on any page with a small meta tag. And Swiffy to convert flash to html5..

Seems like if I can ever get started, I roll.. it's just getting started.

Thanks. I found this information quite useful. Can you tell me exactly how to "carve and convert" a .psd to html using Gimp? I checked out css3 and HTML5 and couldn't find anything on this.

I think most tutorials will focus on PSD to HTML/CSS with Photoshop : http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/si...-step-by-step/

But it should be similar with GIMP, you can use the 'slice' tool or crop down the image piece by piece. You have to separate what images you need to use with styles that can be done with CSS instead.
