. their prices are just right now if you search well, you can find great deals on them. And IMHO all 1st gen Fermi's based on GF100 are power hungry cards not only the GTX 480. All of them draw too much power when we take performance vs. watts into consideration.
It can be find for $250 and be easily overclocked to GTX 580 speeds or surpass it.
Well I did a lot of research last year before I bought my 470. Initially I wanted to get the 480 but there were few of them with aftermarket cooling and in full load it required a lot more power than the 470 for 20% more performance. Plus it was at least 5 degrees hotter which can make or break an overclock.
My card with aftermarket cooling hits mid 80s overclocked. A stock 470 will definitely run into the 90s and a stock 480 would be terribly close to the threshold.
Now I know they're selling the Lightning for $350 (which is not worth it imo since you're better off with a 570 at that price) but it was released in 2011 which is kinda late.
