Help! Need to update PSP Slim from 3.80M33 to w/e is the most stable/reliable CFW.

Hey guys, I need your help on this one as I've been out of the PSP hacks loop for almost 2 years. I bought the silver PSP Slim Daxter bundle 2 years ago, used Pandora's battery and a fat PSP to get it to 3.80M33. However, it's gotten dated and doesn't run any of the newer games, and my little brother just found it 2 days ago and would like to start using it on a regular basis. I'd update it to the newest OFW, but that seems like a waste since from the brief amount of stuff I've read, you can't really downgrade or w/e.

My question: what is the most reliable/stable CFW out right now for PSP-2000 that is equivalent to what 3.80 M33-5 was in the past? How do I upgrade to it? And will I need a fat PSP and Pandora's battery again?

EDIT: PSP Bundle I'm talking about: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Portable-Limited-Entertainment-Sony-PSP/dp/B000U9TXJ0"]Amazon.com: PlayStation Portable Limited Edition Daxter Entertainment Pack - Ice Silver: Video Games[/ame]

come over to the psp forums in my signature..deffinitly can help ya there to...but
i run 5.50 m33-6 and it is running almost all the new games..
Mostly playing dissidia and duodecim..along with older ps1 titles..chrono cross and also final fantasy 4 they relased this for psp:)

but you can run the 5.50 m33-6 with ease..simple tools actually to do it just pop in the file to the games folder and run the program and it will flash your firmware up to that specific cfw...

Edit:
This is a link for what you can look at and on those forums for the files you need..
it helps to backup all the data on the psp right now so you can put it all back on there after you update it

thanks a lot, odin. I thought I'd never get a reply. I'll read through the tutorial and see what I can do. Also, is 5.50 lacking in any sort of real useful firmware vs 6.xx?

not really..only thing is that you will have to patch games that are newer and are coming out pretty soon..Final Fantasy Type-0 for example...you will have to patch with isotool to get it to run properly with the 5.50 m33-6 firmware...
Its not difficult really biggest thing though i syou have to make sure you know what model of psp you have and if your motherboard will support certain cfw...not with pandora batteries and or just putting HEN or a loader over the OFW that you run...

Ok, so I used PSPIdent and it turns out i have a T85-v3. I used Hellcats Reflash to get it to 5.0M33-6, then got it to 5.50 GD-4, I believe. Everything is working perfectly now. Thanks, Odin smile.gif.
